Last Saturday some people stopped by and asked me if I would like to get my driveway sealed. They told me they had noticed some cracks in it and one hole that they would patch. I asked them what they would charge me and he thought for a minute and said they would do the whole job for $650.
Well, that floored me just a bit as I had it done several years ago from a guy who was doing the parking lot up at Minors Country Store. If I remember right, he worked at Ben & Jerry's and did this with a friend of his part time. My recollection was somewhere around $260. When I told him that, he said and he patched it too? I told him no, as it was a new driveway only about two years old when I had it sealed before and I had waited for the blacktop to get gray. He then gave me a price of $350, to which I bartered once more to bring it down to $325.
The guy does have a business in St. Albans and his grandfather used to live in Fairfax, so I have to believe he is reputable, however only time will tell how long this job lasts. It looks good anyhow.

The job was completed in a very short time and is shown above as it was drying
I actually found my old bill which was in 2005 for the driveway sealing at that time. It was done by Mark Bruley & Dave Guyette from St. Albans and I paid $200, not $260. I remembered I had taken some photos of them doing it. They did a great job and it lasted three years.
