Local students receive Champlain College awards

Local students received awards at an Honors Ceremony in April at Champlain College, a career-oriented, four-year college located in Burlington.

Matthew Beckert of St. Albans, Nathan Couture of Georgia, Ashley Fiske of Swanton, Kimberly Lasnier of St. Albans, Marsha Lawyer of Bakersfield, and Sarah Magnuson of St. Albans, received Outstanding Student Awards. This award is presented to students in each career program whose college citizenship and scholarship typify the ideal Champlain College student.

Beckert is enrolled in the Computer Networking program, is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans, and is the son of Carole and Peter Bfckert of St. Albans.

Couture is enrolled in the Computer & Digital Forcnsics program, is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy--St. Albans, and is the son of Patricia and Mark Couture of Georgia.

Fiske is enrolled in the Accounting program, is a graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School, and is the daughter of Nancy and Wayne Fiske of Highgate Center.

Lasnier is enrolled in the Public Relations program. Lawyer is enrolled in the Criminal Justice program and is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans.

Magnuson is enrolled in the Social Work program, is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax, and is the daughter of Kim and Joel Magnuson of Montgomery Center.

Marc Robert Henry Bessette of Fairfax received the Vermont Lambda Nu Honor Society for the Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Award. This award is presented to Radiography students who demonstrate academic excellence by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Bessette is enrolled in the Radiography program, is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax, and is the son of Kathy and Robert Bessette of Fairfax.

Robert Blair of Fairfax received the Excellence in Networking Award. Blair is enrolled in the Computer Networking program and is a graduate of Mount Mansfield Union High School.

Kaela Plant of Swanton received the Excellence in Applied Learning Award. This award is presented to students that have demonstrated exceptional work in a service learning experience. Plant is enrolled in the Public Relations program, is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans, and is the daughter of Deborah and Philip Plant of Swanton.

Jocelyn Stevens of Enosburg Palls received the Technical Abilities in Radiography Award. Stevens is enrolled in the Radiography program, is a graduate of Enosburg Falls High School, and is the Donald Stevens of Enosburg Falls and Kimberely Stevens of Acton, Mass.
