Margaret "Peg" (Mulcahy) Branon
1917 - 2008
Mrs. Margaret "Peg" (Mulcahy) Branon, age 91, died early Friday morning, September 5, 2008, in the Franklin County Rehab Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brandon July 4, 1917 daughter of the late Michael C. and Cecelia (Martin) Mulcahy. She graduated from Brandon High School and the Burlington Business College. She married Edward Francis Branon on July 30, 1942 and they raised 10 children on their family dairy farm in Fairfield. She was a dedicated mother and a great provider. After her 10th child entered school she was a secretary for Superintendent Sid Dewey in the St. Albans School District and continued serving in the Fairfield Center School under seven principals, retiring at the age of 80, in 1997. Margaret was a devout catholic, a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Fairfield P.T.A. She was one of the founding members of the Fairfield Card Club, which has been active for over 40 years.
She is survived by her loving family of 10 children and their spouses Edward Francis IV "Ned" and Beth Branon of Fairfield, Shaun and Dede Branon of Rutland, Mary Kay and Bill Larson of Trumansburg, N. Y., Daniel and Helen Branon of Fairfield, Ann Branon of Fairfield, Timothy Branon of Fairfield, Thomas and Cecile Branon of Fairfield, Jane and Dan Landry of Fairfield, Patricia Branon of Fairfield, Colleen Angelino of Essex, her sister Mary Mulcahy Branon of Plattsburgh, N. Y., 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three expected great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents Margaret was predeceased by her husband E. Francis Branon on September 26, 1984 and by her 10 year old sister Catherine Mulcahy and her grandson Christopher Paul Branon on July 4, 1973.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 8, at 11:00 A. M. in St. Patrick’s Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2:00 until 6:00 Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in the Branon family lot in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
