Nicholas Pelkey, brother of Phil and Dawn (Groseclose) Pelkey of Fletcher:
NICHOLAS “NICKY“ DEVERE PELKEY COLCHESTER — Nicholas “Nicky“ D. Pelkey, 59, of Colchester, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 24, 2005, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Colchester on April 17, 1946, the son of Frank and Lucia (Pafundi) Pelkey. Nick spent eight years with the Job Corps in Tillamook, Ore. He then provided many years of service to Burlington Housing Authority. He enjoyed fishing year round, hunting, four wheeling, playing cards, country music and feeding the ducks with his grandchildren. Nick and his warped sense of humor will be deeply missed. Nick is survived by his partner of 30 years, Connie M. Lozell and her four children, Kenneth Lozell Jr. of Burlington, William Lozell and his wife, Dawn, of Milton, John Lozell of Shelburne and Dennis Lozell and his wife, Lynn, of South Burlington; and eight grandchildren; his parents, Frank and Lucia Pelkey of Colchester; his siblings, Maureen (Tew) Pelkey of Florida, Joanne Packard and her husband, Lawrence, of Essex, Anthony Pelkey and his wife, Aline, of Tennessee, Denis Pelkey and his wife, Debi, of Tennessee, Lester Pelkey and his wife, Jeanette, of Essex Center, Philip Pelkey and his wife, Dawn, of Fletcher, Dolores Pelkey (his favorite) of Williston, Colleen Rathburn and her husband, Brian, of Essex Junction, Melissa LaFrance and her husband, Randy, of Williston, Timothy Pelkey and his wife, Debbie, of Milton, and Theodore “Ted“ Pelkey(also Nick's godson) and his wife, Michelle, of Westford; and many, many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Pelkey III, in September 1998. Nick's family would like to say thank you to all the Doctor's, Nurses and Staff of McClure 4 ICU for all their care and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 28, at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, Tenn. 38101. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction.
