A proposal to recapture profits from milk producers and retailers, and give some of the money to hard-pressed dairy farmers, will get a full hearing this week. The complaint is that while prices have gone up for consumers, farmers are seeing lower prices for their fluid milk.
I am sure everybody has noticed how much the price of a gallon of milk has risen over the past few month. Coming from a farming family and farming community, I didn't mind paying the extra as I want to see farmers be able to stay in business. Didn't realize until last night when Channel 3 had a video on the price of milk for the farmer going down during this time period. They interviewed Marc Magnan (Marc is the son of Henry & Loretta (Howrigan) Magnan) and in the course of the interview it was mentioned. Apparently there is a meeting this coming Tuesday on this in Montpelier.
