Title: Might Want To Give Your Location When Cell Phone Dialing 911
Post by: Henry on September 15, 2008, 08:50:59 AM
Heard a rescue call last night that sent a Rescue Squad to Westford - The call had come in via a cell phone - Location of the call turned our to be up in Fairfield - Just a bit off.  Perhaps the best thing to do is let the dispatcher know where you are, thus saving some time as at this point, it would appear they can not accurately locate the source of the call without a little more investigation.

I couldn't agree more Henry!  Another thing to consider, is to make sure there is an actual emergency before calling it in.  I can't tell you how much time I spend on the interstate searching for "crashes".  Most are simple slide offs and of those some are gone before we get there.

I remember one fire call about a car parked slightly off the road with four ways on. Got up to the station and Central called back with a Cancel. The car took off.
Guy probably needed to take a leak or something.
Please make sure there IS an emergency.
