Stopped by to visit Ruth (Sloan) Burleson yesterday in her comfortable little apartment in the Senior Housing Center across from BFA. Ruth is a very pleasant, always smiling lady, who surrounds herself with many meticulously placed photos of her family. Ruth was born at home up in Fletcher on October 2, 1923. Ruth is the last of her family of 4 siblings, Theresa (Sloan) Young, Alton Sloan, Lawrence (Babe) Sloan and Mary (Sloan) Fay. She later married Linc Burleson when he was in the Air Force back in 1943. Together, they raised six children, Judy, Lorraine, Betsy, Linda, Paul & Gary. Linc passed away 12 years ago on November 25, 1996, just 12 days before they were to celebrate their 53rd Wedding Anniversary.
Ruth told me she went up to St. Luke's and had her photo taken for the St. Luke Pictorial Directory. The last one she had taken for the directory was taken with her sister Mary.
I want to take this opportunity to wish Ruth a very Happy 85th Birthday.
