Title: October Not A Good Month For The Stock Market
Post by: Henry on October 14, 2008, 09:39:35 AM
I believe that the crash in 1929 was on October 29, 1929 and I seem to remember that on October 19, 1987 IBM Stock took a big hit.  The only reason I remember the one in 1987 is because it happened to be my wife's birthday and a lot of IBMers had their stock ready for retirement, however, it took years for it to come back.

Now this year, October is not starting off so hot, hopefully things will end up better.

I was reading in the Free Press about the people that remember the crash of 1929 - (I was born in 1933, so only remember what my parents told me)

It was interesting to read that Franklin Delano Roosevelt in those stories like those my parents related to me, also looked to FDR as the person who made their life better, thus their loyalty to the Democratic Party.  Wonder if any of later generations will have their votes influenced by past generations.

My parents never totally trusted the banks again and what little money they had, was kept under their mattress.
