Title: CRAM THE COMPLEX
Post by: Rev. Elizabeth on October 17, 2008, 03:45:03 PM
I have taken the liberty of copying this message from Angela Baker who is involved in planning for Operation Happiness.  For those who don't know, Operation Happiness prepares  Holiday  food boxes for over 500 Franklin County families.  The plans are to prepare at least 600 this year as the need is even greater.  Here in Fairfax I help distribute at least 25 boxes to residents of Fairfax and Fletcher.
  Rev. Elizabeth

The wheels are in motion for our CRAM THE COMPLEX food drive.  For those of you who may not be familiar with this effort, we plan to CRAM the Collins-Perley Sports Complex in St. Albans with donated healthy non-perishable food for distribution through Operation Happiness for families in FRANKLIN AND GRAND ISLE COUNTIES in need during this Holiday season. This event is being sponsored by the Franklin Grand Isle Community Partnership and the newly formed Franklin/Grand Isle Food Council.

The actual food collection will take place on Friday, December 5th from 3pm to 6pm and on Saturday, December 6th from 9am to 4pm.  Remember the collection that took place at the Complex during Hurricane Katrina? Our goal is replicate that community outreach effort.  All of the food collected will be moved to the St. Albans Armory on Sunday, December 7th in anticipation of being sorted and boxed for Operation Happiness which will start on Monday.

This Cram the Complex is a great cause. Try to participate.

Does anyone know if there will be an Election Day food drive? In the past there has been one to benefit the Food Shelf.

I was wondering if there was a place people could drop food off on their way through town from the grocery store. I have been driving for a few days now with bags of groceries and do not want to bother Pastor Liz every time I would like to donate. I would be more than happy to help organize such a spot? Shelly
