Title: Fletcher Motorist Held As Fugitive After Accident

Tonight's St. Albans Messenger identified a Fletcher Man in the following incident:

Fairfax -- A Fletcher man was lodged at the Northwest State Correctional facility following his arrest Oct. 5 on a fugitive from justice charge.

Vermont State police said the arrest of the 48 year old man, came after a stop here regarding a minor car accident shortly after 7 p.m. at Nan's Mobil. 

Police said there was concern that one of the operators may have been under the influence of alcohol.  Police said the driver backed into a vehicle in the parking lot and then proceeded to drive away.

Another operator approached the man and advised him that he had struck his vehicle.  Police then arrived and the main failed subsequent dexterity tests and was taken into custody, said authorities.

It was further discovered that the man was wanted as a fugitive from justice out of Florida.

During processing, the man provided a breath sample which showed his Blood Alcohol Content to be .105 percent, above the legal limit, said police.

The man was cited to appear in Franklin District Court on November 3 to answer to the charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license, and was subsequently lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility on the fugitive from justice charge.
