FAIRFAX — A Jeffersonville man is facing a series of charges after leading police on a chase that ended when the officer knocked him off his motorcycle.

Vermont State Police say Christopher Mesick, 26, has been cited to appear in Franklin District Court Dec. 8 on charges of attempting to elude police, traveling at excessive speeds, careless and negligent operation, and possession of marijuana.

According to police, a trooper tried to stop Mesick for speeding on Vermont 104 about 7 p.m. Friday, but Mesick accelerated and began passing other cars in a reckless manner.

The trooper chased Mesick on and off until catching up to him on Lyons Road in Fairfax. As Mesick attempted to turn around the trooper got out of his cruiser and knocked him off the motorcycle.

No one was injured, according to police.
