Title: A Potent Nor'Easter Will Bring A Serious Shot Of Winter Weather
Post by: Henry on October 28, 2008, 04:48:58 PM
A potent Nor'easter will bring a serious shot of winter weather to the North Country today and tomorrow.

Most of us will just get a chilly rain for most of today, but snow will be falling in the Adirondacks.  The rain will be changing to snow for the rest of the area as we go through the evening and overnight hours.  The wind will pick up and be strong and gusty tonight and on Wednesday.  Wind gusts could be as high as 50 mph.  The combination of heavy, wet snow and strong winds could bring down numerous trees and power lines.

A *WINTER STORM WARNING* will be in effect for all of northern NY until 2 PM Wednesday.  6" to 12" of snow will pile up in the WARNING area by mid-day Wednesday.

A *WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY* will be in effect in the northern and northeastern areas of VT from this evening through Wednesday afternoon.  4" to 8" of snow will fall in the ADVISORY areas.

The Champlain Valley and southern VT will get 2" to 4" of snow by mid-day Wednesday.

The storm will be gone by Thursday and the sun will return for the end of the week, along with warmer temperatures for Halloween.

Wet slushy snow was falling here on my way home from the village around 7:40 p.m.

No accumulation on the ground though even though temperature is right around the freezing mark.
