Title: Some Old Timers Took A Lot Of Pride In Their Work
Post by: Henry on November 10, 2008, 11:00:18 AM
Don't know if any of you have any old clocks around, but I am sure if you look on the back of the clock, you will find some sort of markings that a clock repair person may have used to identify his handiwork.  I am not aware of any clock repair craftsmen in Fairfax, but know of one up in Johnson who has done some clock repair work for me.  He repaired an old clock for me once and by looking inside the back cover, told me just how many times the clock had been repaired since the late 1800s.

I remember a local man who did a lot of work for me over the years.  His name was Ralph Scott.  From time to time I run across something that Ralph did here and there is always an identifying mark to let me know who did it.  Back in 2005, I posted a little item and took a photo of one of Ralph's marks.  Ralph was a true Jack-Of-All-Trades and did quality work.  You can check my 2005 posting to see how he marked his work if you like, by clicking on the following link:
