Back in the late 1980s when my middle daughter Sharon graduated from College, she went to work for an Engineering Firm in Newburyport, Ma and lived on Plum Island when she was there. Right now, Plum Island is in bad shape. She sent us the following note tonight and is quite Thankful she is not living there right now:
"Hi all,
Heard that the storm we had yesterday gave a beating to Plum Island and a house that was 5 down from where I use to live on Northern Blvd. was lost. I gave you the link to the newburyport news. There's a slideshow of pictures that are incredible. According to the news tonight there are 3 more homes in danger of collapsing if more erosion occurs.
I loved the Island but I knew how much Mother Nature could take away out there
