There are over 200,000 people without power in New Hampshire and another 80,000 in Maine and another 22,000 or so down in Southern Vermont - I know for a fact that many people have cell phones and cell phone companies are doing everything they can to make sure people have that service. Those with the land line phones that have to be plugged into an electrical outlet are out of luck, unless they have one of the phones with a battery back-up. We have a couple of phones (cheap ones) that only need to be plugged into the phone outlet to work - Its a good idea to have one of those somewhere in the house, just in case your power goes out and your cell phone battery dies.

Good call, Henry.
That's been my beef with Vonage and other internet phone services. If the power goes out, and the computer is down, and the cell tower goes down, you're screwed.
I think if you don't have one, the old style phones are very inexpensive. You might want to have one on hand.
I think we still have an old rotary phone around here.

I have an old rotary phone also.
I grabbed it when I saw it when we moved into a different building.
Comes in handy with power outages and when people leave the cordless off of the charger!
