came through Fairfax about an hour 1/2 ago -- saw lights as I came off Huntville from dropping friends off. I had no idea what was up until I received a call from that friend several minutes later. does anyone know if there are families upstairs? i work for United Way and can get gifts together for any children involved in this.... thanks.

Fox 44 Local News received reports of a fire in Fairfax, VT.  It's on Main Street, in the area of Steeple's Market.  We have a crew on scene, with reports of thick black smoke billowing out of the building.  Mutual Aid is on scene from at least St. Albans and Milton.  We will have more information as it becomes available.

Fire trucks were on their way when we went down to 8:30 Mass about 8:15 p.m.  Steeple Market is fully involved and at 9:40 still going strong with a lot of fire departments there.  Fox 44 had a brief video on their 10 p.m. news - Yes there are tenants upstairs.

My brother was down there he said it looked like it was gonna be a total loss.  Cambridge, Milton, St Albans and Fairfax were all there when I left for work.
