Title: Fairfax Fire & Rescue & Cambridge Respond To Snow Machine Accident
Post by: Henry on January 10, 2009, 12:16:05 PM
A snowmobile accident occurred off Woodward Road around the area where Almon is building his house, about a mile back in the woods.  I don't know the seriousness of the injury or who the victim was.

Some of Fire, Rescue & Vermont State Police wait for the victim to be brought out

The Fairfax Fire Department Cart/Sled was used to bring the victim to the ambulance

Great pictures Henry,  As you can see the Rescue sled was donated by the Fletcher Rough Riders and Wildcat Trucking a number of years ago. The issue we keep running into with it is we do not have anything to pull it with. We rely on a member bringing a machine or as the case on Sat. a neighbor (Paul Bean ) having a machine to pull it with. We are currently looking at getting a machine to do this with. Prices run from $10,000.000 to $14,000.00 for a 4 wheeler with a track kit. I am asking for any help we can get with this. Does anyone have a good used machine they are not using? Does someone have a good (in) with a local dealer that might be willing to give use a great deal ?

We do several fund raisers a year and this is one of the items we are going to use that money for. But as always if there is any way we can save a few pennies. I can be reach at home or the Fire Station every Tuesday night from 7-9pm

Any help or ideas with this project would be greatly appreciated.

Chief,
Contact VSP, I recall hearing somewhere they take possesion of this kind equpiment due to drug arresests for example.  Also, try ski areas, they also may have some for a good price.  Waterbury Backcountry is in the process of obtaining a snow mobile from Killington Ski Snowmobile tours.

This could be our goal for the "Art in Bloom" Festival. That way people would know exactly what they were donating for and what the goal is. I could start early and sell raffles for it. Let me know. I would love to help.
