I spent my first 19 years growing up in Fairfield at a time when there was no television, part of the time no electricity and the only past time was visiting and listening to reminiscing by my father and grandmother about Fairfield and its people. My father's mother could neither read nor write, but she had a fantastic memory and I do have to say, there was many a story I heard more than once, by both my Dad & my grandmother.
Fairfield put out an interesting book that my sister gave me one birthday. It is called "Fairfield Vermont Reminiscences", and contains stories from the Old Timers. Very interesting, especially to somebody like me who can place where a lot of the people involved lived.
The Analysis Above of the story was not actually mine, but came from the Internet where I found it easier to copy & paste the story than to scan it from my "Fairfield Vermont Reminiscences" book.
