Title: Pierre Apparently Planning To Rebuild
Post by: Henry on January 26, 2009, 10:16:59 PM
Chris Santee has information on his web site http://www.franklinone.com/ (http://www.franklinone.com/) regarding Pierre Menard's plans for a new Steeple Market.  I spoke with another Quick Stop here in town today and they are waiting to see what Pierre is going to do as any attempt to replace the services that Steeple Market had would require a number of renovations to their existing store.  If Pierre rebuilds, they will apparently stay as is.  The loss of The Steeple Market here in town has proven to be a real inconvenience for many.

We wish Pierre good luck in his new venture.

One of the Selectboard members, I believe it was Charlie,
asked Pierre about the siding of the building.

Pierre said it would be a clapboard and resemble the old building.
The plans include a public rest room below the old steeple.

But, we're still looking at months before we know for sure !!!

Thanks to the Fairfax Selectboard.
They're willing to assist Pierre anyway they can.

I love seeing neighbors come together.

Wonder if Pierre left a copy of the drawing with the Selectboard??  If so, will see if I can get them to let me post a copy here on the forum.  Lots of interest in Pierre rebuilding here in town, right in the same place, as it was within walking distance for the village people.

No copies of the plans are available at this time.
I want to get one in the newspaper.
Pierre said he would see what he could do.

At first glance, the view from the parking lot looked just like the old building.
The steeple appeared to be further back from the road.
