Authorities say a Lake Champlain ferry has crashed at a dock on the Vermont shore, with injuries reported. A Vermont State Police dispatcher says there was an incident involving the ferry, but says he has no further information.
But state Rep. Mitzi Johnson of neighboring South Hero, a member of that town's rescue squad, says other members have been called to the scene of the ferry crash.
She says "there are a few injuries being transported" to a hospital in Burlington, and that the boat's captain was one of those injured.
According to Fox 44, who had someone on the scene, no police or emergency personnel are on the scene at this time. When I heard about it, the thought crossed my mind that local resident Bill Cootware did work for the Ferry Company and may indeed still work for them. Bill is in his 80s, but still enjoyed working the last I heard.
