Title: Quite The Snow Squall
Post by: Henry on January 30, 2009, 07:42:17 PM
Left here around 4:45 and headed up to Swanton to a former co-worker's wake.  When I got around the Oakland Station Road, it started to snow and by the time I got up on the Interstate headed North towards Swanton, it really began to snow.  I don't normally drive at night, especially outside of Fairfax, and kind of wished I hadn't headed out tonight.  I could see no lines as to which lane I was in and kind of stayed in the driving lane by coming more toward the middle every time I hear the whir of the little ridge of scarred blacktop on the edge of the Interstate.  There was nothing to do but keep going, and I sure was happy when I got up to Kidders in Swanton.  I doubt I have every driven in such a heavy snow storm.  I think they said it snowed about 3 inches in 20 minutes.  Needless to say, I paid my respects to the family and left, however, when I got outside the funeral home it had stopped snowing and was clear all the way home.

Good thing Maryann wasn't riding with me, as there would have been more deep fingerprints on the dash of my car.

I was the lead car in a group heading through the center of Westford heading home when it hit. Slowed me right down to 15mph......couldn't see squat through the windshield until a few cars headlights showed up going opposite direction. Glad they weren't parked in a garage, I would have driven right in next to them and out the other side.

If anyone knows how to remove womans fingernails from the dash, let me know...my wife wants hers back.

LOL.  I know what you're saying, my wife called me when i was on my way to B-ball practice.  She was going 5 mph and didn't knwo where the road was - thus she couldn't even pull over.  I had to drop off my daughter and head out and get her.  I was half way to westford when she said it had stopped.  It was doubly worse for her as she had our 2 grandkids in the car that she had to betray her true emotions for.

That was a crazy squall.
