Lawrence Frederick Bishop
Franklin, Vermont - Mr. Lawrence Frederick Bishop, age 85 years a lifelong area resident died late Thursday evening, January 29, 2009, at his Hanna Road Residence with his loving wife and primary caregiver, Vivian at his side.
Born in Sheldon Springs, Vermont on, July 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Fredlow and Zilda (Sheltra) Bishop. He attended school in Sheldon Springs and on, October 30, 1948, was married to the former Vera Vivian Machia who survives him.
Lawrence was associated with the Sheldon Paper Mill in Sheldon Springs retiring as a foreman after 36 years of service. In his earlier years he coached Little League Baseball in Franklin and will be remembered for building and operating the concessions stands. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a 46 year member of the American Legion, Post 42 of Enosburg Falls as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing and playing his harmonica. However his favorite pastime in later years was playing solitaire.

In addition to his wife Vera of 60 years, Lawrence leaves his children, Larry Bishop of St. Albans, Alan Bishop and wife Darlene of Enosburg, Bonnie St. Pierre (deceased) and her husband Mark St. Pierre of Fairfield; Tammie Lafromboise and husband Michael of Fairfax, Susan Mayo and husband William of Franklin, Patti Corey and husband Kenneth of Franklin and Joey Bishop and wife Stacey also of Franklin; grandchildren, Liza Harrness, Angie Bishop, Jason Noel, Shane Noel, Ashley Mayo, Bradley Corey, Katie Corey, Amber Bishop, Joey Bishop Jr. Shawn St. Pierre, and Kayla St. Pierre; great grandchildren and step grandchildren; a son-law; a brother, Ronald Bishop of Franklin and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Edward Corwell and his wife Judy of Highgate
Lawrence was recently predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie St. Pierre on December 8, 2008. He was also predeceased by sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Wescott, Beulah Lunn, Beatrice Corwell, Raymond Bishop and Adelbert Longley.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. from, The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau, pastor of Nativity / Saint Louis Parish will officiate. Entombment will follow to await spring interment with full military honors in Saint Anthony Cemetery Sheldon Springs.
