Title: Kind Of An Erie Thing
Post by: Henry on February 04, 2009, 09:09:14 AM
Had a strange thing happen here at the house.  Maryann has a light near her chair that she uses for reading.  Yesterday, on three different occasions, it turned on by itself.  The first time it happened, Mary Kay was here and she got up and turned it off.  A little later, just Maryann and I were here and it turned on again, so I went and turned it off again.  Once more, a little while later it turned on again and once more I turned it off.  That was it, it did not come on again.

When this all happened, Maryann said, "You know what day this is, it is Larry's Birthday."  Larry was Maryann's younger brother who died last May 31, 2008.  Yesterday would have been his 65th Birthday.  Never a Birthday went by that she didn't call him and sing Happy Birthday to him.  In a weird sort of way, maybe, just maybe, he was saying, "How about singing Happy Birthday to me??"

One never knows, strange things do happen, but it was quite a coincidence that such a thing should happen.

I have a story of something that happened to me. About a week after my Mom passed away I was sitting on my couch with my Corgi on the floor beside me. I was feeling really down and sad and thought to myself that I wished my Mother would give me a sign that she was still with me in some way. I no more than finished the thought when my dog got up, ran across the room barking and barking. No one was at the door when I checked and there was no noise that would have given him alarm.  My Mom stayed with us for a month during recuperation from surgery and my dog never left her side.  I am convenced it was her way of giving me a sign she is with me.
