The Old Grange Hall in Main Hill at 1155 Main Street is for sale.  It contains .17 acres of land and was appraised by the town at $79,200.

This hall is a Century Old Building and has a lot of history.  Movies, Roller Skating, Anniversary Parties, Bridal Showers and even basketball games were played here.  My wife's bridal shower was held here some 49 years ago.  For anyone interested in purchasing it, I understand that Ann Lemieux of Dusty Trail Realty has the listing on it.

I suspect it is probably listed as Commercial Property.  Will be interesting to see who purchases it and what they will do with it.

I wonder if it's possible to go in and look around. Once in a while, I stop, clean a little dirt off one of the windows and look in.
A lot of money for very little. No parking.
Still, it will be interesting to see what becomes of it.

To bad there isn't parking.  This could be the new community center?

David -
Nice idea - however there is no parking...that seems to be the issue in a lot of the potential locations in town.

Would there be a possibility to purchase land behind the Grange Hall for parking?  Space is limited within the Town Center for a much needed Community Center.

From the looks of the pictures, the building may not be of much good anymore either. The first picture down the side. My guess is it would be a very expensive fixer uppper.

Does anyone know when it was in use last ?

The Wolds used it in the 90's as a Used Book Store. It's been a while. The books are still in there.
A lot of memories. Community suppers, rummage sales, dances, receptions, and more.

Could it be shored up and moved? Then the question is "Where?".

It would be nice to save the building for historical purposes.  From an economic standpoint, I would demolish it and start over with a brand new structure.

I do not know this for a fact but I am guessing that there is not enough water or sewer capacity for this structure to be used as a community center.  Our current municipal water & sewer system is almost at capacity from what I understand.

Is there grant money out there somewhere considering we have been searching for a spot for a youth center? Perhaps this is something someone with the inclination could look into? We can all speculate about a lot, but with out actually researching anything, there are no definitive answers. I don't know if Melissa Beerworth might be interested in looking into the feasibility/possibility of this building serving some use to the community again. I know she is interested in what goes on in the town having expressed an interest in a select board seat earlier in the year.
