Fairfax-Bessie Mae Mossey, 64 of Rood Mill Road passed away peacefully, Thursday evening March, 26, 2009 in the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans.

Bessie was born April 5, 1944 in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Simon Raymond and Bertha Mary Pooler Roig.  A lifelong area resident, she attended St. Albans schools and had worked on the Roig farm in St. Albans.  Bessie was married to Armand Lawrence Mossey who predeceased her. She enjoyed hunting, playing with her animals especially her dog, however she loved the time spent with her grandchildren the most.  She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her son, Robert S. Mossey and his fiancé, Tina Bidwell of Georgia and her grandchildren; Meaghan, Stephanie, Caitlyn and Christina.  Her sister, Peggy DeVarney and her husband, Ernest and their daughter, Connie DeVarney all of St. Albans, her sisters in law, Joyce, Phyllis, Patricia and Lynnda and several nieces and nephews.  Her friends, James and Dale Webb, Bobby Ovitt, Elaine and Del Sweatt, Linda Stell, Kevin and Kara Campbell, John and Regina Meigs, Bob and Ann Elks, Nancy and Pete Lynch and their daughter, Anna, Donna Parah and Tim Loiselle and his son, Timmy as well as all her friends from the Fairfax Rescue Squad.  She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Mossey and her sister, Betty Ann Jane Roig and brother in law, Arthur North.

Bessie’s family wishes to thank the caring staff at St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and compassionate care extended their mother during her brief stay there. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 2pm in the United Church of Fairfax with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating.  Burial will be in the Carroll Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
