About 6:20 p.m. last night, the Fairfax Fire & Rescue was called to 28 Wilkins Road for an oven fire. I got very poor reception from The Central Dispatch last night, but Steve Bessette announced over the local base.
I was getting ready to go to 7 pm Stations & Mass, but did glance down the Wilkins Road and saw Fire & Rescue on the scene. Although a later announcement came it as a structure fire and Cambridge Rescue was also called at that time, everything seemed quiet at the fire station and when I drove by the house around 8 p.m.
Hopefully not much damage was done.

Fire contained to inside of oven. Damage to home was limited to "dust" from fire extinguishers used by homeowner and neighbors. We called Cambridge Fire for assistance when dispatch could not identify if the fire was contained to the oven or had spread into the kitchen and we were short on personell. Better to be proactive and safe to have help on the way than to get there and realized we have more than we can handle and then make a reactive call for assistance. I was able to cancel Cambridge shortly after arriving and see that the situation was minor in nature thanks to the quick actions of the homeowner and neighbors.
