FAIRFAX, Vt. A 14-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a New England Central freight train in Fairfax.
The Vermont state police identified the victim as Abraham Patry.
Police say they received a call from the railroad around 10-o-clock this morning reporting that a train had hit a person.
Police found Abraham's body about a quarter mile north of the Skunk Hill Road rail crossing.
Police say the train crew saw something on the tracks and sounded the train's horn and bells and the emergency brake was applied, but the train could not stop before it hit the boy.
Police say the train was traveling at about 35 miles an hour when it hit Abraham.
