A Fairfield man—who wishes to remain anonymous-- recently went to Middle Road Market looking for a sandwich, but left with a $1 million Powerball ticket instead, according to Vermont Lottery Director Of Marketing and Sales Hadley Melendy.
By her account, luck played a key role for the winner.
“This person had never purchased a ticket at that store before, but (he) noticed it had a deli and (he) wanted a sandwich, and the deli was closed, so (he) bought a ticket instead,” she said.
“The ticket was a quick pick,” she added.
The winning numbers, 10, 20, 23, 47, 54 were drawn on Wednesday, March 25, but the winner did not step forward until Monday afternoon.
