The Boston Red Sox have postponed their home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays because of the prospect of heavy rain and high winds.
The team said Monday's game is rescheduled for 4:05 p.m. Tuesday.
It's the first time the Red Sox have postponed their home opener since 2003. That game also was called because of rain.
Some fans camped out overnight ahead of the game, only to be turned away hours later. At about 10 a.m., word began to filter through the crowd that the game had been rescheduled for Tuesday.
