Title: Roger L. Lavallee Passes Away

Roger L. Lavallee,  84  Lifelong resident of Westford died peacefully, early Monday morning August 29, 2005 at his home in the presence of his loving wife.

Roger was born April 21, 1921 in Westford the son of the late Isidore and Ernestine Duff Lavallee.  He was educated in the Westford schools and graduated from BFA Fairfax in 1940.  Following his graduation he enlisted in the Army Signal Corp.  He served his country during WWII in the China, Burma, India (CBI) Theater of Operations.  A proud Veteran, Roger married his classmate Elaine Spiller on July 1, 1946 in Fairfax.  It should be recognized that Elaine is also a WWII Veteran who served proudly with the US Coast Guard.
   
Following the war they together bought their farm in Westford in 1947 and raised a family.  He stopped farming in 1967 going to work for IBM in Essex until his retirement in 1986.  Roger and Elaine’s retirement was spent together traveling, camping and square dancing in various locations across the country.

He is survived by his wife Elaine of Westford and their children, JoAnne Wilkins of Fairfax, Dennis and Marie Lavallee of Wildwood, Missouri, Andrew Lavallee of South Hero, Peter and Rita Lavallee of Milton, Marie and Tim Maclay of Marshfield, David and Cheryl Lavallee of Westford, Ted Lavallee and Sara Stearns of Westford, Richard Lavallee of Westford and Mary of Fairfax, and Becky and Andre Roy of Westford; thirty grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, his brother, Laurent and Doris Lavallee of Westford, his 2 sisters, Gabrielle Pouliot of Kearney, Nebraska, and Madeline and Shirley Minor of Westford; his brother in law, Norman Spiller of Westford and stepbrother in-law, Larry Leach and Christy Hamel of St. Albans Bay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sons, Roland Theodore on December 18, 1950 and Robert Thomas on October 18, 2001;  his 6 brothers, Lucien, Bernadine, Herve, John, Andre and George and 3 sisters, Marie-Ange, Yvette LeClair and Gillberthe.

The family wishes to thank our mother Elaine for her love and dedication. We would also like to thank Lisa Westor of Hospice, and especially Dave Minert for the fine, outstanding and compassionate care that was provided to our father during his illness. It is truly appreciated.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 2nd at 10 am in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Fairfax.  Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

For those who wish, contributions in Roger’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday September 1st from 5-8 pm in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
