Conditions are right in the Champlain Valley for fires to spread, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service in Burlington issued the watch for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Gusty northwest winds of 25 to 30 mph will continue across the region, and a very dry air mass remains in the area. Wind and low humidity combined with lack of significant rainfall over the past five days create conditions conducive to spreading fires, according to the Weather Service.
