Tonight's St. Albans Messenger reported that St. Albans City has laid off two more employees in getting their house in order. In addition it stated that:
"Just last week, the city also laid off Jesse Fleming, of Fairfax, a full-time fireman who had been with the department for 11 months, not long enough to capitalize on his union benefits.
With salary and benefits at an entry-level rate, the city will save $53,430 by eliminating Fleming's position. Fleming also collected two weeks' severance pay - about $2,000"
