Title: Gas Went Up 17 Cents Between Monday & Friday In Fairfax
Post by: Henry on May 09, 2009, 09:33:53 AM
Both Minors and Nans are getting $2.199 per gallon for regular gas.  First time I have beat the gas price increase.  I filled up last Monday at Nan's for $2.029.

What a lucky week, first my break on gas and then the free meal from Oprah.

$2.50 in Anchorage.

I just wish there was oil and oli refineries closer to Alaska.

Oh wait, there is.

Why are we gouged?

Long story......................

Noticed at Minor's tonight that gas there is $2.259 also - They must have heard me mowing the lawn and knew I needed more gas.

Henry,

When I think of it, I try to buy gas that does not have mentanol in it.  All of the gas stations in Fairfax sell gasoline with 10% methanol.

If you read the manual that comes with most small engines, they do not recommend blended gasoline.  This type of fuel can quickly clog the fuel system of small engines, especially if the engine is not used frequently.

Fletcher general store has 100% petroleum based gasoline.  The fuel that is sold there is provided by Clarence Browns of St. Albans & all of the fuel that they sell is non blended.  If you smell the 10% methanol and 100% petroleum products you can tell that there is a difference.  100% petroleum fuel also has the added benefit of more BTU's ( British Thermal Units per gallon ) in lay mans terms, more miles per gallon of fuel.

Ahhhhh.  The smell of good gasoline.

I completely agree about the ethanol-free fuel. I see about 10% better fuel economy with the ethanol free gas. Other stations in the area that sell ethanol-free gas besides Fletcher General include the Maverick Station in Johnson (in the Grand Union Plaza) and Rene's on Route 7 in Milton.

If anyone else knows of any other stations please post them.

The Dam Store in Milton is ethonal free gas.  The gas price at Fletcher General is 2.31. It cost 4.37 to fill my mower yesterday.  Still cheaper than last year.
