Interstate 89 Southbound is closed between Exit 9 and Exit 8 due to a massive accident involving a CCTA bus and several vehicles.

Police say the Link Express bus was approaching a slowdown of traffic in a construction zone in Middlesex when it veered off the highway toward a guardrail, then back into traffic lane, where it hit at least three other southbound cars. One of the cars it hit flipped up onto the roof of the bus.

Four people were rushed to the hospital. Police say it's a miracle no one was killed.

The bus driver told police his brakes weren't working.  Officials say about a dozen people were on the bus.  Debris is strewn over a half mile of the roadway.  Police say the interstate will be closed in that area for several hours and drivers are advised to find alternate routes.

I almost called you once again, Henry.
This was much worse than the car burning yesterday.
I was headed to Montpelier shortly after the crash.
We were detoured along Route 2.
You could see lots from Route 2.
What a mess, looked like a plane crash.
Debris everywhere.
Thought for sure the bus driver was a goner.
Thank God !!!

Chris,
Maybe you better stay off the interstate.

That was amazing no one was more seriously injured.  The crash occured just a few miles out of my (old) fire departments coverage area.  I got a call from my protoge, telling me about it, as he was listening to it on the scanner.
Crashes like that are not as common here, but a simple fender bender can tie up the traffic for hours!
