LUCY ANN RINGWIG
COLCHESTER - Lucy Ann (Pratt) Ringwig, 77, of Colchester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 26, 2009. She was born in Charlotte, Vt. on Sept. 1, 1931 and was raised in Fairfax, Vt. by Alice and Thomas Bevins. She was known there as Barbara Jane Bevins. Lucy was married to Hubert C. Pratt in Burlington, where they raised 7 children. Hubert predeceased her in December of 2000. She married William Ringwig in 1986. Lucy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and baker, known as Grandma Chocolate by her grandchildren. Lucy loved to celebrate the holidays and to spend time with her family. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Parish. Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, William Ringwig of Colchester; her seven children and their spouses, Sharon and William McSweeney of Milton, Patricia and Frank Chilcote of Burlington, Ernest and Doreen Pratt of Essex, Melody and Roger Marceau of North Port, Fla., Robin and James Soutiere of Burlington, Joy and William Bradley of Ferrisburgh, and Hubert C. Pratt Jr. and wife, Debbie of Swanton; her grandchildren, Christine, Shannon and William, Frank, Keith, and Chad, Ericka, James, Adam and Amber, Brandy, Amy and Nicole, Travis, Jeremy, Ashley, and Hannah; her 19 great grandchildren; three sisters, Dot Baker of Glens Falls, N.Y., Sylvia Laramee and husband, Andrew of South Burlington, and her special sister, Perp Smith and her husband, Paul of Glens Falls, N.Y.; her brother, Ray Smith of Bolton; five stepchildren and their children; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Ringwig family. She was predeceased by her sister, Irene "Frog" Dubie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 29 in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Visiting hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Lucy's memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
