Title: Lightning Bugs Must Have Been On 220V Last Night
Post by: Henry on June 19, 2009, 06:44:52 AM
When I turned out the lights in the living room last night, I could see lights blinking out in my front yard and across the road in JR's pasture.  The lights were unusually bright, but were definitely from fireflies.  Must have been the weather.  I remember studying how fireflies create their blinking lights and as a kid remember catching them and putting them in jars -- ooooooooops, that may not have been a humane thing to do, but I am sure most have done that or tried to do that.

I hate to ask Suzy, "Did you say Health Food Store?"  What are you doing in a Health Food Store, they don't have donuts there.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if someone made organic donuts.  If I find them, henry, I'll pick some up for you. :)

I mean I'll PICK SOME UP... You can only pick donuts if you have a donut tree!

Okay, if you stop teasing me about donuts, I'll stop correcting your spelling....
(There's no "e" in lightning)

There are donuts and danishes at the health food store, although the danishes are better.  (I only eat donuts when I go home to VT...cider donuts, and plain donuts.)  mmmmm

I was out Saturday night with my niece and nephew helping them catch some lightning bugs in an empty water bottle.

Ah, the simple joys of summer.   I forgot how much fun it was as a kid to just run around the yard in the dark trying to catch those little bugs that light up long enough to say "Over Here!!", then off they go.

(All of the bugs we caught were released at the end of the night after the kids went to bed).

Glad to hear those lightning bugs were released back to their enviorment because if PETA ever caught wind otherwise we would be in a world of trouble, just ask Obama.  Did anyone else see the front page Saturday of the BFP?
