Title: Crash In W. Swanton Causing Traffic Delays
Post by: Henry on June 22, 2009, 08:46:00 AM
The Vermont State Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash on Vermont 78 in West Swanton. The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m.

There are traffic delays in the area of Charcoal Creek, just east of Campbell Bay Road.

The road will be closed later this morning or early this afternoon to allow for removal of the rig, police said.

Our family used to travel Route 78 a lot when we went to visit my grandparents in Alburg.  I always had a fear of something going wrong with the steering on our old 1935 plymouth and us ending up in the water along side the road.

I hear it was a beer truck,
and the crew will have to remove all the beer by hand.

When asked how long it might take,
the crew responded without hesitation "ALL DAY".

Noon News on Channel 3 indicated that Hazmat would not be called in as none of the beer had contaminated Charcoal Creek.

I work in Swanton and offered my help until I found out it was a Busch truck. Might as well stay at work.
