The Coast Guard has indefinitely suspended its search for a boat that was reportedly struck by lightning Thursday, officials at the Burlington station said this morning.
Officials said they will try to narrow the focus of the search that originally covered 250 square miles.
The Coast Guard responded Thursday evening to a radio call from an unknown source saying that a vessel has been struck by lightning and was “going below” on Lake Champlain. The call is being treated as legitimate.
