Title: Flunking Drivers Permit Tests
Post by: Henry on July 03, 2009, 08:13:03 AM
I have received a "Sheepish" look from more than one young person who has gone to get his driver's permit and flunked the test.  Usually they responded that they had the book, but hadn't really studied it.  Come to find out, they were not in the minority as statistics show that 51 percent fail in their first attempt to take their their permit test.  Ahhhhhhh Yes!!!  The humility of driving home from the test with your parent driving.  I know not many young people read this forum, but parents, you might want to remind the younger group that the test is a bit harder than they think.

I failed mine the first time....

I passed the license test first time to make up for it.

It still surprises me when I hear this...I don't recall anyone failing the permit test way back when I took it if anyone did, it wasn't ever mentioned openly. When my son got his permit/license a few years ago, a number of kids didn't pass either the first time. It is surprising because it's the one thing teens look forward too, but don't seem to take the time to read the book or practice for the test. The questions can be tricky, but there are numerous practice tests to take on the internet to prepare. It seems like the kids believe it's so simple that they don't need to bother being prepared and are finding out differently.
