Channel 3 News and Fox 44 stated that even with the rain, attendance at the Fair was pretty good. They had some video, but it didn't really look like my idea of fun. Have to admit though that today's Fairgrounds and paths are much better than the old days. I remember my mother slipping and falling in the mud crossing the race track many years ago. I felt so bad for her and believe that was the last time she ever went to the Fair.
Maryann and I have decided not to go this year. We usually spend about a half a day there as we celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. With all the talk about swine flu and possibility of having it spread through Fair Food, which is actually what we go for, might be a good year to skip it.
Always happy to post photos though of Fairfax Folks at the Fair. Feel free to send them to me and I will gladly post for you.

Happy Wedding Anniversary Henry and Maryann !
How many years has she put up with you?????
Go to the fair for the food!
The swine flu thing is so blown out of proportion it is silly.
It reminds me of the Y2K change over.
There are more fatalities related to the "normal" flu than the swiine flue.
GO eat, be merry, and have fun!

Nothing better than a $8.00 sausage with a $6.00 fried bread and a $5.00 Coke. We usuallly go down 1 evening and spend 50-60 just on food. There is a little donut place that I will hit first this year, may go for 3 dozen.

Did you say DONUTS??? I'll bet Suzy knows right where that place is. I never knew they had a DONUT place at the fair.

We stumbled upon this donut stand last year late into the evening. They had maple glazed donuts and let me tell you, they were to die for. My kids still talk about them and we have not been able to find any since. We will be sure to go there this year. I agree about the Swine Flu scare. Although, it sure has raised a lot of money for the pharmaceutical industry. I also think these donuts will raise a lot of money for the medical field. They can not be good for you. They come out of the oil all nice and brown and drenched in maple syrup. Yum Yum. They would be a big hit for a farmers market.

Right before my mom passed we took her to the fair and the only thing that she kept mumbling was Dizzy Dozen. It confused us and thought she was just ranting (she had a rather large brain tumor). We walked around sure enough found a place called Dizzy Dougnuts. It was at the end of a row, down towards the cows, or the heritage area. It seems that it was a tradition for her and her best friend to get a dozen of these tasty little doughnuts every year ! It was her last Fair, and now my sisters and I can't think of the Fair without thinking about our mothers request for these miniature doughnuts. as it happened it was the last verbal communication she had with us.
