We gathered to take a quick tour of the Old Grange Hall Sunday afternoon.

The north side. You can see where the foundation has collapsed.

The view of the main floor from the balcony. I didn't use a flash.

Cash register from the bookstore.

Many, many thanks to Ann Lemeiux from Dusty Trail Realty for opening the building for us.
The tour sure brought back a lot of memories. I was thinking the wall on the balcony was higher. It was only a foot high.
There are a lot of books in the place.
It's too bad something couldn't be done with it, but there are so many logistics.
Later in the afternoon, I got a call from former Fairfax resident, Mike Marshall. He gave me a bit of info. He told me that before the Grange moved into this old building, they had been meeting at the old New Hampton Institute, located at the top of Fireman's Pond Road.

Isn't it sad that all those books are going or have gone to waste??!!  Too bad they couldn't have been donated even for the United Church rummage sale?!

I be you could have all of the books if you asked for them.  The problem would be what would you do with all of the books that didn't sell?  The transportation and landfill fees would greatly outweigh the dollars earned on the sale of books.  A book sale like this would make Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Look like the ideal business model.

The concern would be the musty smell of the books. They have been in there for at least 10-15 years.
