It is unbelievable how many things we use electricity for. Perhaps one of the biggest things for us who have our own water supply is water. Nothing like going to the bathroom and accidentally flushing the toilet realizing it is draining your storage tank. Maryann drinks water constantly, so we will have some of that in the refrigerator for her. The power is only supposed to be off for an hour starting at 10, but we just have gotten so used to having it.
We do have one of the old style telephones as all the other phones require electricity to run them. Something many people forget about until they go to dial the phone and find they don't have one when the power is out.
We do have a couple of wrist watches and a couple of back-up battery powered clocks so we will know what time it is.
Perhaps one of the most noticeable things when the power goes out is the absolutely silence when gives you an indication of all the things that aren't running.
Thank God!! Its only an hour. We sure are spoiled.

Another true benefit of a cell phone!
Communication and accurate time during a power outage!
Keep your cell phone charged before the outage and carry it with you.

But what happens when the cell tower loses power? Then you're stuck.
We also have an old style phone we can plug in.
