Title: Our First Frost Here On The Fletcher Road
Post by: Henry on September 20, 2009, 08:02:17 AM
Woke up to a white frosty back lawn this morning - That was where my garden used to be.  Kelly Sweet started chopping corn in back of the house last night, so Fall is here.  A bright beautiful sunny FALL day.

No frost down here in the village by the river.  It was about 37 degrees this morning.  I did cover my plants last night just to be safe.  My rose bush has 4 more buds on it and I didn't want to lose them.  Hopefully it will bloom before the next frost advisory.

Not sure how sturdy your rose bush is, but usually very sturdy.  Mine usually bloom as late as October.  Think that is where the saying, "The last rose of summer came from."

It's an English tea rose bush.  It might be hardy enough, but where it sits is the one spot that might get some frost if it had come.  The buds are very small right now and I was too worried not to cover.  I guess I should do some research to find out how much frost they can stand.

We escaped the frost this morning at 38 degrees off of Buck Road but not so lucky yesterday at 33 degrees.
