Yup!! 5:18 p.m. tonight is the start of Fall. I was quite surprised when I saw it raining this morning. I didn't think it was going to rain until later in the day. I didn't watch the news last night. I had planned to watch the new Castle program then the news, skipping over to catch where the Red Sox were from time to time. First thing I knew, the Sox were tied 9 to 9 then it was all down hill from there.
Speaking of Fall, I have never seen such an abrupt closing of Vegetable Stands. There are none open, although one does have a self serve, but not a very impressive choice of goods. I did call Elke Rainville and asked her if they had any more tomatoes and she went down and found a few for me, so fortunately we are still feasting on some nice juicy ripe Vermont Tomatoes. Usually there is Silver Queen Sweet Corn around this time of year as that is a late very sweet corn. I saw none of it this year.
The Pumpkin Crop from what I can see is sad indeed. I think most of the Vegetable Growers are just glad the year is over.
On the other hand, they say the Apple Crop is fantastic.
