The Vermont Agency of Transportation has temporarily closed the portion of Route 108 through Smugglers Notch.
According to John Zicconi, spokesman for VTRANS, the road closed at 8 a.m. Thursday and will remain closed for an undetermined length of time due to unsafe weather conditions.
Motorists are advised to alter their travel plans accordingly.
The Notch Road, a scenic byway that runs through a rugged natural area and connects the towns of Stowe and Cambridge. VTrans annually closes this segment of Route 108 for the winter.
VTrans monitors the road regularly and will alert everyone when the road reopens.
