Title: Vermont Macs Are Really Good This Year
Post by: Henry on October 15, 2009, 08:13:39 AM
Was down at Hannafords the other day and bought a bag of Macintosh Apples.  They were a bit pricy, I thought at 99 cents a pound, but they were all a nice deep red.  I normally don't like apples out of the orchard this early as they are hard and somewhat sour, at least to me.  These apples were perfect and I am sure I will be picking up another bag when I go to the store as I used some of these to make some homemade applesauce.

We currently have two Empire apple trees in the yard (hopefully they'll start producing next year, or in 2011.

I prefer a good Honey Crisp myself. Maybe I'll try to get my hands on a couple of Honey Crisp trees next spring.
