Don't know if this is just a fluke here on Fletcher Road, but a nice soft Christmasy Snow is falling ever so lightly - Really puts you in the Christmas Spirit. I don't believe we are going to get much for accumulation, but it is nice.
I don't know where I got the information, but on my reminder calendar I have a note that on December 29, 1933, the thermometer dipped to 48 degrees below zero here at Fairfax Falls. I know it is a fact and there must be some stories that go with it, but for the life of me, I can't find my source. I do know I was a baby back then and my parents related tales of that cold winter many times to me.
Oh well, it may have gone the way of a hard drive or two ago.

Henry,
I'm not sure about Fairfax, but the lowest temperature in Vermont was also recorded in 1933. It was -50 below in Bloomfield. This record stood as the coldest recorded in all of New England until January 16th, 2009 when it was tied in Big Black River, Maine....

Hi Papi,
I must have put something up on my forum in the past, but did a search and can't find it. Mike Cain is a wealth of knowledge and may have heard Albert Rich talk about it, because I know there were some stories that went along with the 48 degrees below zero. If Mike Cain doesn't remember where the info came from, I am sure that Sharon Meyers will have some info on it.

Off the top of my head, nothing comes to mind.
The day I always remember was January 27th(?), 1993(?)-the same year as the Northridge earthquake in Southern California. It was the Thursday before the Super Bowl. My thermometer goes to -40, and that morning, it below that and in the well. I want to call it -50.
