HEADLINES:
▪ We received a noteworthy contribution this month from the Fairfax Business and Professional Association. Thanks!
▪ We received a small grant from the Preservation Trust of Vermont for half of the cost of a “condition assessment” of the Baptist building; and are moving ahead to have the building assessment done ASAP.
▪ We discussed the hypothetical pros and cons of two other possibilities for community center sites, and will continue to explore all options until we have enough information to make a commitment to a single course of action.
In attendance: Elizabeth Griffin,* Trevor Russell,* Mary Taylor,* Melissa Beerworth,* Judi Hunziker, Mark Hunziker,* Ann Lemieux, Barb Duval,* & Katrina Antonovich

Reports, discussion, and actions on agenda items:
▪ The meeting was called to order at 6:45 PM
▪ The minutes of the 9/21/09 and 11/16/09 Board meetings and 10/27/09 annual Membership Meeting were approved. (moved by Trevor, seconded by Melissa)
▪ CFC received two checks of note this month. The now-dissolved Fairfax Business and Professionals Association, after completing their last few projects, turned over the balance remaining in their account, as a way of ensuring that the funds would be used in the spirit for which they were originally intended: to support the Fairfax Community. We also received a grant from the Preservation Trust of Vermont for half of the cost of a “condition assessment” of the Baptist building.
▪ We are moving ahead to have the building assessment done ASAP. Hopefully this will give us most or all of the information needed for evaluating the costs of repairing and upgrading the Baptist building for use as a community center. We are also looking into having an “energy audit” of the building done, to give us more complete information specifically about what can be done to bring the building to an acceptable level of energy efficiency, and the costs entailed.
New business:
▪ Two other possibilities for community center sites have presented themselves in the past month; each one very tenuous at this point. We discussed the hypothetical pros and cons of each scenario and will continue to cautiously explore these options and any others that we turn up, until we have enough information to make a commitment to a single course of action.
Meeting adjourned: 7:26 PM (moved by Liz, seconded by Mary)
Next Meeting: January 26 (fourth Tuesday), 6:30 PM at the Hunzikers’ home
January Agenda in brief:
o Reports on Baptist bldg. condition assessment; and other site options. With luck, we’ll have complete cost estimates for the Baptist bldg, and can begin moving toward a decision on the site.
o Possible progress reports:
