Well, I got home about 2:15 p.m., so a little to early for this:
DATE/TIME: 01/12/2010 1520 hours
LOCATION: Interstate 89 (northbound) mile marker 97 Colchester, Vermont
On Tuesday (01/12/2010) at approximately 3:20 p.m. a call was placed to 911 reporting a truck fire northbound on Interstate 89 at mile marker 97 in the Town of Colchester. A gray, 1994, Toyota Pick Up Truck owned by Michael Beaupre lost power while traveling northbound and a short time later became engulfed in flames.
Beaupre was able to exit the vehicle safely. Fire Departments from Colchester Center and Saint Michael's College responded to the scene. Due to the fire, live ammunition contained inside the vehicle began to discharge as firefighters first arrived at the scene. The Vermont State Police assisted by the Chittenden County Sheriff's Department temporarily shut down northbound traffic for approximately 20 minutes until the scene was determined to be safe by fire personnel. There were no injuries as a result of the fire. Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane for approximately 45 minutes.
