Hello!
I wanted to let everyone know that petition are available in businesses around town for a warned item for the Fairfax Recreation Park.
The Warned Item is:
To see if the voters of the Town of Fairfax will authorize the building of a pavilion with concession area and a restroom facility with storage in the Community Recreation Park.
We need 150 signatures by Thursday Afternoon.
The Cost is approx $79,000
We have raised/got grants for $31,000
I have applied for a re-imburseable grant for the $48,000. We need to have to money/or approval to get the money to get the grant. Which comes out to about $30 a household (which hopefully we will have a grant to cover anyway). We also have fundraisers planned to offset the cost as well. You must be a registered voter in Fairfax to sign the petition. Please call me 849-2641 or e-mail me at fairfaxparksandrec@yahoo.com with any questions. Thank you for your support of the Fairfax Parks and Recreation.
Katrina Antonovich, Fairfax Parks and Recreation Director.

Hope you get your signatures, katrina....

I stopped off at the Town Office to sign the petition, but there wasn't one there. I did find one at Steeple Market and signed one there.
-
As of 3:00pm I believe we need about 29 more signatures,
Forms are available at Nans, Fairfax Physical Therapy, Rainvilles, Ross's, Foothills Bakery, Steeple, J and L, Adams Quick Stop, Minors, and the Pharmacy. I can also bring one to people who may not get the the chance to get out - Just call me 849-2641.
A Big thank you to all those who have already signed the petition!
-
Don't cut it too close Katrina as all the signatures have to be verified as Fairfax Voters and I am sure some may be invalid.
-
We got all needed signatures and they have been verified!
A Big Thank you to the Fairfax Community!
I really appreciate it!

Katrina, if the pavillion gets approved and built...does the grant cover the maintenance of it afterwards? If not what are the costs to maintain it and where does that money come from?
-
I'm not Katrina, the Rec Director, but i do know that they already have a grounds keeper who wages are either facotred in the budget OR she pays out of her Stipend. WHICH, by the way, is Piddles when considering ALL she's accomplished and does. This is kinda like the Teacher's pay situation... we want to pay the people responsible for educating and preparing our kids for adulthood - less than we pay people who are Incacerating societies criminals... or say.... defending them.
Thank you Katrina for the amazing amount of work you do and without so much as a crumb of a chip on your shoulder.

It truly is amazing what she does for this town. She is a true asset to this town. Thank you Katrina
We will finally have a town park. A gathering spot. A focal point. Everything I like about other towns. Good job

First I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words - they mean a lot! More than you could know.
gdpvt - I'm still working on final numbers which is why I didn't reply immediately, but right now the cost of the portalets we rent each year are in the budget as well as the groundskeeper position, From my research so far, and I will have all the numbers soon, the cost to maintain both facilities each year is less that what we pay for them now to rent. I can personally e-mail you when I get the numbers.
Hope this helps.

Sounds good! no need to email, you can post them here i'm sure others would like to know too. Just concerned when grants are being used, have lived in a town where grants were used but no one factored in the costs associated so the great present to community turned out to be an expense.

I'm sure I speak for the rest of the Parks & Rec Board when I say that what Katrina is able to accomplish on the budget she has available (both salary and resources) is amazing. We are fortunate to have someone as dedicated and caring as her who is able to get things done- Being able to make the Egg Run a resounding success is an accomplishment in and of itself (not to mention nearly a year-round project), but she also coordinates some great classes for the community such as Zumba, Yoga, and Boot Camp, scours the world for grant and funding opportunities, solicits and gathers up donations, puts together a great Community Day and Ducky Race (June 5 this year- Don't miss it!) and logs countless hours and miles. Thank you so much, Katrina!

Amen to that Trevor. Katrina has done and is doing great things for Fairfax!

I did not know there were others to give kudos to. With Trevor having something to do with it I can see why it works. He is a major part of Art in Bloom and he is wonderful. Actually, he has many repeat visitors that thinks he is wonderful too. You too are a major asset to Fairfax. He also has a very darling wife that supports his efforts. Thank you to both of you.
